Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre
ca. 1664 - 1729
Elisabeth Jaquet de La Guerre was a popular Parisian harpsichordist and composer. King Louis XIV granted her permission to dedicated her compositions to him, a highly-sought privilege she continued to enjoy until the king's death in 1715. Though she retired from public performance in 1717, her reputation remained undimmed even after her death in 1729.
